Our group walking holiday to Andalucia in Southern Spain was a stunning trip.
We were based in the very cute village of Frigiliana. The majority of the group stayed at the quirky Millers hotel & others in local village houses.
The holiday was organised by Joy Johnson and the walks were led by John and Lesley of Spanish Walking adventures and their friend Ged. The trip included five walking days, with our free day visiting the city of Granada.
There was a selection of walks provided, some more challenging than others.
One from the water reservoir above Frigiliana along the 'acequia' irrigation channels then down to the village and on to Nerja; a circular walk on the Sierra de Gavilan following old mule trails with ascent /descent of around 300 metres; along the disused Zafarraya railway line (easy option) or the hills above it (harder option); a promenade walk to Torre del Mar (easy option) or from the lost village of Acebuchal climbing up onto Cerro Verde to reach the summit with ascent and descent of 400 metres (harder option); and finally a linear walk from La Canuela to the small coastal town of La Herradura with ascents of 400 metres.
We all enjoyed the local food / wines / beers/ tapas at various restaurants plus dining al fresco with great views from the village.
